The temperature dependencies (15-300K) of seven Raman-active mode frequencies and linewidths in layered gallium selenide have been measured in the frequency range from 10 to 320cm -1 . We observed softening and broadening of the optical phonon lines with increasing temperature. Lattice dynamics of HgSe and β-HgS was studied by three independent methods: IR reflectivity, Raman scattering and neutron scattering measurements. New interesting features, found in the spectra are explained and analyzed in detail. In particular, the possible influence of the isotope effects on the results of measurements mentioned above is discussed.
